On February 20, 2025, history was made at the Ladi Kwali Hall in Abuja as women across Africa’s mining sector gathered for the inaugural International Mining Women Conference, themed “Empowering Women in the Mining Sector: Promoting Gender Equality, Economic Empowerment, and Investment Opportunities.” The event, proudly organized by N & G Consulting Firm Ltd, brought together policymakers, ambassadors, private sector leaders, and grassroots women miners to spark a crucial conversation about gender equity in mining.
With women holding just 5% of board positions in mining companies, this conference addressed the urgent need to close the gender gap. Through keynote addresses, fireside chats, and powerful documentary screenings, the voices of women miners were not just heard—they were amplified.
